Red Team Stays Alive With 7-5 Win

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The Red team rallied from a 5-0 deficit to win 7-5 in game three to stay alive in the best-of-five World Series.

The Black team put two runs on the board in the first behind a home run from junior Chris Carlson. Freshman Chad Itokazu added two more with a double in the second, driving in sophomore Ian Hollick and freshman Ryson Mauricio. Hollick brought home freshman Dane Hamilton with a double in the third.

A walk, two doubles and two singles in the fourth got the Red team on the board. Sophomore Jordan Pacheco tripled with one out in the fifth and was brought home by junior Daniel Stovall's double to pull the Black team within one.

Freshman Chace Lankford's pinch-hit single in the sixth drove in freshman Scott Gracey for the game-tying run. Pacheco's sacrifice fly brought home freshman Ric Rodarte for the go-ahead run and senior Ryan Barba added an insurance run with a single, bringing home junior Jay Russell.

Pacheco led the Red team, going 2-for-3 with a RBI and a run scored. Barba and Rodarte both were 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Itokazu led the Black team, going 3-for-5 with a run scored and two RBI. Carlson was 2-for-5 iwth a run scored and two RBI.
