The Lobo women's golf team is in third place after the first round of the Kent Youel Invitational being played in Kapolei, O'ahu, Hawai'i. Led by freshman Rebecca Hellbom's career-best 3-under 69, UNM was also 3-under as a team after 18 holes, carding a 291 on the par-72, 6,140-yard Kapolei Golf Course.

New Mexico trails the University of San Francisco by six shots. The Dons shot a 3-under 285 followed by San Jose State at 289. Stanford is fourth in the 15-team field at 293.

The second round was due for completion later today Albuquerque time. The final 18 holes will be played Wednesday starting at 12:30 p.m. Mountain Time. There are no live stats for the tournament.

Hellbom, a native of Sweden, is tied for fourth and one shot out of first place in just her fourth collegiate tournament. Junior Jodi Ewart is tied for seventh at 1-under 71.

Junior Britney Choy, who grew up less than 30 minutes from the Kapolei Golf Course, finished with a 3-over 75. Senior Mikaela Backstedt had a 76 and Morgan Grantham shot 77.
