Utah Tops Pre-Season Polls, UNM Predicted Seventh

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - In a vote by the league's head coaches released this past Thursday by the Mountain West Conference office Utah is expected to finish first in the conference.

Utah captured the top spot with 52 points and five first-place votes, just two points ahead of BYU, which had 50 points and three first-place votes. UNLV was predicted to finish third with 43 points and one first-place vote, followed by TCU with 32 points, Colorado State with 31 points and Wyoming with 23 points. UNM ranked seventh, for the second year in a row, with 12 points followed by San Diego State (10 points) and Air Force (two points) finishing the women's poll.

With fifteen returning competitors and seven new comers the Lobo women are currently training hard for the upcoming season. The season begins for the Lobos on October 26th when they will be in Greeley, Colo. taking on the Bears of Northern Colorado. Competition begins at 6 p.m. The next day, at 5 p.m., the team will compete against Wyoming in Laramie, Wyo. The Lobos have three home meets during the season, the first is November 2, 2006 at 6 p.m. in the Seidler Natatorium. The Lobos will face BYU, NAU and NMSU.
