ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- University of New Mexico head volleyball coach Jeff Nelson recently announced the hiring of Courtney Winninger as director of operations. Winninger will assist Nelson with the day-to-day duties of the program, including community relations.

"We are thrilled to have Courtney join our staff," said Nelson. "She will add a lot to our program, especially with her experience working with USA Volleyball. Her work there was outstanding."

Prior to joining the UNM staff, Winninger was a seasonal event coordinator for USA Volleyball in Colorado Springs. She assisted in the overall conduct of the USA Volleyball Championships and provided support for all World League operations, including logistics, marketing, and organization of volunteers.

Winninger earned her master's degree in sports administration from the University of Northern Colorado in May 2007, while working with USA Volleyball. During her time in Colorado, she also worked as a basketball ticket sales assistant for the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs and coached the Colorado Chill 14s volleyball club.

A 2005 graduate of the University of Northern Iowa in business marketing, Winninger was a student assistant with the UNI women's volleyball program for four seasons and an intern in the sports marketing department. She also coached the Panther 17s volleyball club in 2004-05.
