The University of New Mexico women's basketball team will open the 2003-04 season on Tuesday night against the West Coast All-Stars at 7 PM in The Pit. This is the first game for UNM this season and the third game for the West Coast All-Stars. The first regular season game for the Lobos is on Friday, November 21, at home against USC, with tip-off scheduled for 7 PM.
SCOUTING THE LOBOS: UNM is coming off a 24-9 season with their first Mountain West Conference Tournament Championship and first ever trip to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen last season. The Lobos return six players including two starters in juniors Mandi Moore and Lindsey Arndt. Also returning for the Lobos are seniors Lauren McLeod and Melissa Forest and sophomores Abbie Letz and Jana Francis. New Mexico also welcomes seven new players, including transfers Jenny Shetters from Cal State Northridge and Judy Vogt from Ft. Lewis College.
SCOUTING THE WEST COAST ALL-STARS: The West Coast All-Stars will enter The Pit for their third game in three nights after an 86-57 loss Sunday at Tennessee and a game on Monday at North Carolina. The All-Stars are made up of former college players from UCLA, UNLV, Temple, UC-Riverside, Villanova, Washington and Nebraska.
