COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - University of New Mexico forward Jessica Kielpinski has been named Mountain West Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played from Dec. 27-Jan. 2, the conference announced Monday. This is the first weekly honor of Kielpinski's career.
The senior from Mandan, N.D., led all scorers during the Lobos 65-60 win over Rio Grande Rival New Mexico State to stop a four-game losing streak and wrap up the non-conference season.
Kielpinski scored a career-high 21 points and shot an impressive .700 (7-10) from the field, including .500 (3-6) from long range. Her seven field goals made were also a career high and she tied her career-high of 3-pointers made in a game with three.
The forward also led the Lobos in rebounds, steals and assists. Kielpinski had seven rebounds and had season-highs in steals with five and assists with four in New Mexico's only game of the week.
This is the second weekly honor for the Lobos this season. Junior Porche Torrance was honored on Dec. 6 for games played from Nov. 29-Dec. 5.
