University of New Mexico junior pole valuter Whitney Johnson is back after redshirting last season. Johnson underwent knee surgery in the summer of 2006 after a fluke accident in training where she tore her ACL a week before the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships. Prior to her injury, the Mission Viejo, Calif. product was a two-time NCAA regional qualifier, NCAA provisional qualifier (indoors), indoor all-MWC honoree, and set the UNM outdoor record in the pole vault. UNM media relations student assistant Christa Martinez sat down with Johnson after practice to talk about her injury and goals for the season.
