UPDATE - University of New Mexico senior Jeremy Johnson added yet another award to his memorable 2006-07 cross country and track seasons, receiving third team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America honors this morning. Johnson, who also earned All-America honors in the 10,000 meters during the spring, is the third Academic All-American in program history - all since 2004 under retiring head coach Matt Henry.

Johnson, a mathematics major, has posted a 3.67 cumulative grade point average during his college career. The Albuquerque Manzano product was the lone men's track athlete from the Mountain West Conference on the first, second or third team.

Former Lobo decathlete Mark Johnson earned first team Academic All-America honors in 2004, while middle distance runner Frank Hemingway was a second team selection last year.

Jeremy Johnson will return to lead the New Mexico men's cross country team this fall in his final collegiate season. A first team all-MWC cross country runner last year, Johnson was a four-time all-conference honoree during the 2007 indoor and outdoor track seasons and finished seventh in the 10K at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. He recently placed 17th in the 10,000 in his debut at the USA Championships.
