Final Stats

LARAMIE, Wyo.--Junior Amy Beggin scored 12 points in a 52-50 loss to Wyoming this evening in Arena Auditorium. The Lobos led by 12 points at halftime but were unable to hold on for the win. The Lobos fall to 16-5 on the season and 5-3 in Mountain West Conference play. The Cowgirls improve to 11-10 on the season and 3-5 in MWC play.

New Mexico silenced a rowdy Wyoming crowd when Beggin nailed a three pointer from 24 feet to tie the game at 50 with 19 seconds left. The Cowgirls snatched an offensive rebound and got a late basket from Hilary Carlson with only .03 seconds left on the clock. Time would expire before New Mexico had a chance at a shot.

Beggin had 12 points and picked up seven in the last two and a half minutes of the game. She has now scored in double figures in 20 out of 21 games this season including all eight MWC games.

Other Lobo contributors were freshman Sara Halasz who had nine points and two steals on the night off the bench. Junior Eileen Weissmann tied a season high with eight rebounds and added four points while sophomore Amanda Best chipped in seven points.

The Lobos will stay on the road as they travel to Las Vegas to take on UNLV on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 3 p.m. PT. For more information please visit www.GoLobos.com.
