Albuquerque, N.M. - The University of New Mexico women's basketball team will play host to the California Golden Bears in the second round of the preseason Women's National Invitational Tournament on Sunday, at 7:00 p.m. at The Pit. The Lobos won their opening round game 69-52 over Oral Roberts, while Cal upended Eastern Washington 64-45. The winner will play the winner of the Oklahoma/SMU game on Wedenesday, with time and location to be announced Sunday night.

TONIGHT'S GAME: Tonight's game features the Lobos of the University of New Mexico against the Golden Bears of the University of California in the second round of the preseason Women's National Invitational Tournament.

SCOUTING THE LOBOS: UNM opened the season with a 69-52 victory over Oral Roberts in the first round of the preseason WNIT. The Lobos were 2-0 in the exhibition season with a 75-48 win over Fort Lewis College and a 77-50 victory over Metro State College. New Mexico is led in scoring by sophomore forward Dionne Marsh at 20.0 ppg. Junior Katie Montgomery leads the team in rebounding with 9.0 rpg and senior Abbie Letz leads the team in assists at 6.0 apg. The Lobos are coming off the best season in school history as they were 26-5 in 2004-05. UNM won their second consecutive regular season MWC title and third straight MWC Tournament championship. New Mexico returns three starter and 10 letterwinners from 2004-05.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN BEARS: Cal opened the season with a 64-45 victory over Eastern Washington in the first round of the WNIT. The Golden Bears are led in scoring by Ashley Walker and Alexis Gray-Lawson at 14.0 ppg. Renee Wright leads Cal in rebounding at 14.0 rpg., while Sarah Pool leads them in assists at 6.0 apg.

THE COACHES: UNM is led by head coach Don Flanagan who in his 11th season at New Mexico. Flanagan is 218-94 at UNM. California is under the direction of head coach Joanne Boyle who is in her first season at Cal and fourth overall. Boyle is 1-0 at Cal and 68-29 overall.
