ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The No. 22 University of New Mexico women's basketball team will travel to Las Cruces, Tuesday night to play New Mexico State at the Pan American Center. This will be the 56th meeting between the two teams and second this season. The Lobos enter the contest 8-2 on the season, while the Aggies are 4-6 on the year. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. and can be heard live on 610 AM The Sports Animal.
TONIGHT'S GAME: Tonight's game features the Lobos of the University of New Mexico traveling down I-25 to play the Aggies of New Mexico State University in their second non-conference meeting of the year.
SCOUTING THE LOBOS: New Mexico is 8-2 this season with victories over Florida Atlantic (74-44), No. 25 Texas (63-60), Georgia Southern (64-43), Siena (78-39), New Mexico State (81-47), at Arizona (76-63), Sam Houston State (77-41) and UCLA (72-63) and losses to No. 12/13 Arizona State (67-49) and Nebraska (66-59). UNM is led in scoring by senior Julie Briody at 17.1 ppg and rebounding by junior Brandi Kimble at 6.5 rpg. Leading the Lobos in assists is senior Katie Montgomery at 3.6 apg.
SCOUTING THE AGGIES: New Mexico State is 4-6 on the season with wins over Lamar (69-52), Texas-San Antonio (69-63), Southern Utah (59-57) and Wichita State (72-69) and losses to UC-Irvine (61-47), UTEP (76-67 and 65-45), Utah Valley State (79-72), New Mexico (81-47) and BYU (60-43). The Aggies are led in scoring and rebounding by Sherell Neal at 15.5 ppg and 8.8 rpg. Leading them in assists is Monique Bribiescas at 3.1 apg
THE COACHES: UNM is led by head coach Don Flanagan who enters his 12th season at New Mexico. Flanagan is 247-106 at UNM. The head coach of New Mexico State is Darren Spence who is in his fourth season and has a record of 36-61.
