Albuquerque, N.M. - Brigham Young University's Jamie Rendich converted a penalty kick at the 92:22 mark of the match to give the BYU Cougars a 1-0 women's soccer victory over the University of New Mexico Saturday afternoon at the UNM Soccer Complex. The Lobos drop to 5-10-0, 1-4 Mountain West Conference while the Cougars improve to 6-9-4, 2-1-2 MWC.
BYU led the match statistically, outshooting New Mexico 16-10 and taking 10 corner kicks to three for Brigham Young. The Cougars also had nine shots on goal compared to UNM's four.
UNM goalkeeper Kristen Winters tied her individual season-high of seven saves in today's game against the Cougars. The last time Winters made seven saves in a game this season was in the match against Montana on September 26.
The Lobos are back on the road for their last regular season match next Saturday, October 30 as they travel to Laramie, Wyo. to take on MWC competitor Wyoming at 1 p.m. (MDT).
