ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Sophomore third baseman Ian Hollick hit for the cycle in the nightcap of a doubleheader with Air Force, leading the Lobos to a 24-3 win. Hollick is just the eighth Lobo to hit for the cycle in New Mexico's history.

Air Force's center fielder, Chay Derbigny, led off the game with a double to center and scored the first run of the game as pitcher Josh Meents reached first on an error from Lobo starter Jesse Perez.

Junior first baseman Chris Carlson hit a two-run homer to right and Hollick hit a two-run home run to left, putting New Mexico on top 4-1 in the first. Two doubles in the second, one from sophomore second baseman Jordan Pacheco and one from junior left fielder Jay Russell, led to another UNM run.

New Mexico put eight on the board in the the third thanks to six hits and an error. Hollick singled as the second batter in the inning and then tripled after the Lobos batted around.

Carlson homered for the second time in the game, third on the day and fifth time this week, leading off the fifth inning. One inning later the Lobos extended their lead to 18-1 as senior shortstop Ryan Barba homered, Carlson doubled and scored on an error and junior designated hitter Daniel Stovall homered.

Meents doubled down the right field line in the seventh, driving in left fielder Price Paramore and pinch hitter Matt Musser.

Hollick led off the Lobo half of the seventh with a double to right, completing the cycle. Hollick scored on a single from freshman catcher Zach Arnett and Barba homered in his second consecutive at bat.

Up 21-3 heading into the eighth, New Mexico cranked out four singles for three more runs.

For the game, Hollick and Pacheco tied for the team-high in hits (4), going 4-for-4 and 4-for-7, respectively. Hollick and Barba drove in a team high five runs while Carlson, Stovall, Arnett, Barba and freshman right fielder Dane Hamilton all scored three runs. Meents led the Falcons, going 3-for-5 with three RBI.

Perez improved to 2-0 with the win, allowing seven hits, one run, five walks and four strikeouts in 6 innings. Meents fell to 0-3, giving up six hits, seven runs (five earned), a walk and two strikeouts in 2 innings.

New Mexico (22-12, 5-3 MWC) and Air Force (10-22, 1-8 MWC) wrap up the series with a 3 p.m. game at Lobo Field. Junior lefty Danny Ray Herrera (6-0, 1.57 ERA) is slated to pitch for the Lobos.
