ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The University of New Mexico women's basketball team will try to get back on the winning track Tuesday night, when they play host to the Texas Southern Tigers. The Lobos enter the game with a 3-1 record, while the Tigers come in at 1-2 on the season. Tip-off is set for 7:05 PM, at University Arena.
SCOUTING THE LOBOS: UNM is coming off its first loss of the season against Villanova (70-57) in the Holiday Inn Mountain View Invitational championship game. The Lobos are currently 3-1 with wins over USC (77-75), Cal State Fullerton (59-52) and Youngstown State (54-36) UNM is currently led in scoring by juniors Lindsey Arndt and Mandi Moore at 11.5 and 9.8 ppg, respectively. The leading rebounder for the Lobos is Arndt with 7.8 rpg, while Moore leads New Mexico in assists at 4.3 apg.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS: Texas Southern enters tonight's game with a 1-2 record and is coming off their first win of the season against Houston Tillotson (101-53). The Tigers two losses have come to the University of Texas San Antonio (57-55) and Colorado State (85-51).
THE COACHES: UNM is led by head coach Don Flanagan in his ninth season at New Mexico. Flanagan is 171-82 at UNM. The Tigers are led by Claude Cummings. Cummings is in his first season at Texas Southern but has an overall record of 41-66.
