LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The University of New Mexico junior varsity men's golf team finished ninth at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate. The Lobos finished at 35-over par (297-296-306) on the par-72, 7,074 yard New Mexico State Golf Course. The team title went to New Mexico State at 13-under par, 10-strokes in front of Nebraska.
Individual results for UNM were sophomore Guillermo Chavez tied for 19th at 5-over par (73-72-76=221), freshman Kyle Nielsen tied for 21st at 6-over par (73-74-76=222), freshman Brandon Putnam tied for 25th at 7-over par (73-72-78=223 and sophomore Jacob Lestishen tied for 54th at 17-over par (79-78-76=233).
The individual title went to Brady Schnell of Nebraska at 10-under par, two strokes in front of Freddy Esparza of New Mexico State.
The fall season is now over for the UNM men's golf team. The Lobos next action is January 29-30 at the PING Arizona Intercollegiate.
