ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- Lobo head coach Don Flanagan won his 300th game at New Mexico Wednesday night in a 79-33, route over Air Force inside The Pit. UNM had four players reach double figures and improved to 17-6 overall and 6-4 in Mountain West Conference play. Air Force slipped to 4-19 on the season and 0-10 in league play.
The Lobos were led by juniors Georonika Jackson and Eileen Weissmann who chipped in 12 points a piece. Senior Angela Hartill returned to the starting lineup and scored 10 points on 5-of-9 shooting. Junior Amy Beggin had 11 after hitting three three-pointers.
UNM shot 44.1 percent from the field and hit 11-of-27 shot from behind the line. UNM outrebounded Air Force, 44-37 and scored 22 second chance points. The Lobos scored 33 points of the bench compared to only five by the Falcons.
New Mexico held Air Force to only 18 percent shooting from the field. The Falcons hit nine of their 50 shots taken in the game. Raimee Beck was the only Air Force player to reach double figures with 11 points.
With the win, Flanagan improves his career record to 300-132 in 14 seasons. Flanagan is the winningest coach in Lobo basketball history.
UNM will take this weekend off before hosting BYU Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 6 p.m. MT live on the Mountain West Sports Network. The BYU game will also be "Pink Zone" night for the Lobos. Fans are encouraged to wear pink. The Lobos will be wearing pink warm-ups and jerseys during the game.
