COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - New Mexico forward Dionne Marsh was named the Mountain West Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, marking her second career honor and first this season.
Marsh, a 6-1 sophomore from Flower Mound, Texas, led New Mexico to a 2-0 record last week. Against San Diego State, Marsh shot a season-high .875 from the field on 7-of-8 shooting, tied a season-high with 3 blocks and dished out 4 assists. Against UNLV, Marsh notched her fifth double-double of her career and second of the season with 15 points and a career-high tying 10 rebounds. She also led UNM in scoring against SDSU and was second against UNLV.
For the week, Marsh averaged 16.5 points and 6.5 rebounds, while collecting four assists, three blocks and two steals. She shot an average of 63.2 percent from the field (12-for-19), including 7-for-8 from the field (.875) against San Diego State.
