ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- New Mexico softball head coach Ty Singleton announced that the Lobo coaching staff will offer a free coaching clinic this Saturday, Jan. 13 in the Presidents Pavilion inside the Tow Diehm Fieldhouse at the south end of the football stadium. The clinic is open to coaches from club and school teams and will be held following the skills camp at 2 p.m.

"We want softball in New Mexico to grow both in numbers and in national reputation, and to do this we must all work together on behalf of the players," said Singleton. "We look forward to Saturday as our first chance to gather formally with our fellow softball coaches in the state."

The coaching clinic is open to the public and will promote teaching the sport of softball in the New Mexico area. Coaches that are interested in attending the event are encouraged to register through the UNM softball office prior to the event due to limited reservations. Along with the clinic, coaches are welcome to observe without fee the Lobo Softball skills camp from 9:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at the Lobo softball and baseball complex on Saturday. There is still room available for campers in the skills camp if anyone is interested.

DATE: Saturday, January 13, 2007

TIME: 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm (Registration begins at 1:30 pm)

PLACE: University of New Mexico Tow Diehm Fieldhouse (on south end of football stadium)

COST: No charge

RESERVATIONS: Space is limited, so please contact the Lobo softball office to reserve your place by either of the two following methods:

Walk-up registrations will be accepted if space allows.

CLINIC STAFF: This clinic will be led by University of New Mexico Head Softball Coach Ty Singleton and his current coaching staff.

STAFF BIOS:

Ty Singleton, Lobo Head Coach. Previous head coach at the University of Missouri ( 2003 Big XII Coach of the Year, two Big XII Conference Tournament finals and three NCAA postseasons) and Northwestern State University (Southland Conference Tournament Champions 2002 and one NCAA postseason). Assistant at the University of Texas (two NCAA and one WCWS appearance, and one Big XII Tournament championship), and at Azusa Pacific University (two NAIA national tournaments). Won Pac-10 North baseball title as outfielder at the University of Portland.

Tom Royder, Lobo Pitching Coach. Assisted Coach Singleton at the University of Missouri and Northwestern State University. Previous assistant at the University of Oregon, and at Olympic College and South Kitsap High School (both in Washington State). Played 29 years men's fastpitch in Texas, California, Oregon and Washington, and competed in 15 ASA and ISC national tournaments.

Lacey Schanz, Lobo Assistant Coach. Previous head coach at Truman State University in Missouri (two MIAA Conference titles and one conference tournament title, with three postseason appearances). Assistant coach at the University of Pennsylvania. Played catcher as student-athlete at Georgia Tech.

Elizabeth Economon, Lobo Volunteer Assistant Coach. Currently professional player (shortstop) in PFX Softball Tour. Previously assisted Coach Schanz at Truman State, where she also earned 2x 1st Team All-American honors and 4x All Region awards as a student-athlete.

Lindsay Leftwich, Lobo Graduate Assistant Coach. Previous assistant at Wichita State University and Northwestern State University, where she earned 3x First Team All-Southland Conference and 3x All-Louisiana Team as student-athlete.
