Stursova Wins at U.S. Nationals

University of New Mexico junior women's Nordic skier Martina Stursova took the top spot in the U.S. Nationals 15k classic race Saturday in Rumford, Maine. Stursova led the way over 151 collegiate and Olympic skiers with a time of 46:17.8, just three seconds faster than Katrin Smigun of Team Subaru.

Also skiing well for the women was junior Lena Jensen. She placed seventh overall but third among collegiate skiers in the race. Also racing for the Lobo women were sophomore Trine Lundamo (25th), and juniors Pirkko Pulkkanen (34th) and Andrea Roberts (57th).

On the men's side, freshman Dirk Grimm led the way with a 13th place overall finish in the 30K Classic, second among all collegiate skiers. Sophomore Geir-Endre Rogn finished 19th overall and fifth among the collegiate racers. A total of 201 skiers started the men's race.
