LaBelle II Ties for 51st at 2008 British Open

Former University of New Mexico men's golfer Doug LaBelle II (1995-98) finished the 2008 British Open tied for 51st at 17-over par (78-70-74-75=297) this weekend. He shot a final round 75 on Sunday in his first career British Open appearance.

LaBelle II started the weekend with an 8-over 78 in the first round. He made the cut by birdieing three of his last four holes in the second round to shoot an even-par 70 on Friday. LaBelle II battled tough conditions throughout the weekend, posting 74-75 in the final two rounds, respectively.

LaBelle II has made six cuts in 14 events on the PGA Tour so far this season. He has one top-10 finish and a pair of top-25 showings in his second full season on tour.
