ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- The University of New Mexico volleyball team wraps up preseason training on Saturday, Aug. 22 with the annual Cherry & Silver scrimmage and Alumni match. The day will begin with the Cherry & Silver at 1 p.m., followed by the Alumni at 7 p.m. All 2009 home Lobo volleyball events will be on UNM Main Campus in the Johnson Center.
The Cherry & Silver scrimmage will be an intrasquad match dividing the 2009 Lobos into two teams. Several alumnae expected to be in town for the Alumni match include Maria Stutsman Murrietta, Jeanne Fairchild, Sarah Kwasigroch, Paulina Deming, Adah Burke and Paula Feathers.
Roadrunner Food Bank Drive: Admission to the Cherry & Silver scrimmage and Alumni match are free, but the team is accepting donations of dry and canned goods for the Roadrunner Food Bank.
Volleyball Season Tickets: The 2009-10 Olympic Sports Pass is still available for purchase for the 2009 Lobo volleyball season. The specially-designed pass allows fans to attend all Lobo volleyball, men's and women's soccer, softball, baseball, cross country, indoor and outdoor track & field, swimming & diving, skiing, men's and women's golf, and men's and women's tennis preseason and regular season home events for just $50. Senior (55+) and Youth (ages 2-16) passes are available for $40 and $30. There is also a Family Plan available for $150 that includes two (2) Adult and two (2) Youth passes.
Taking The Day Off: The Lobo volleyball team had a light day on Wednesday. The team made a visit to the UNM Children's Hospital patients and their families in the morning, before taking care of last-minute school demands. In the evening, the team worked the phones in the annual Phone-A-Thon.
UNM begins the regular season against Delaware on Friday, Aug. 28, at 7:30 p.m. in the first session of the MCM Elegante Lobo Classic in the Johnson Center.
