Las Vegas, Nev. - Lobo senior Johnny Parkes won two matches today at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Mountain Regional to enter the quarterfinals of the event's main draw. Parkes defeated Jaco Visagie of NAU, 6-0, 6-2, in the round of 32 before defeating New Mexico State's Jim Brouleau 6-2, 1-6, 6-4, in the round of 16. Parkes is on of eight remaining players in the draw of 128. He will take on Utah's Wes Hancock on Friday at 1 p.m. MST.
Kassutzki notched a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Denver's Varun Gunaseelan, but was eliminated from the main draw in the round of 16.
Brass fell to UNLV's Wes Burrows 6-2, 6-1, in the round of 32.
Parkes and doubles partner Miles Bugby defeated Montana's Mikolaj Borkowski and Carl Kuschke today in the round of 32, 8-1. Parkes and Bugby will face Utah's Wes Hancock and Timmy Allin on Friday at 10 a.m. MST. With a win, the pair will advance to the quarterfinals.
A total of eight Lobos are competing in the event, which also includes consolation matches.
