Albuquerque, N.M. --- Basketball is back. The Lobo basketball teams open up the 2011-12 season this Friday, October 14th at The Pit from 6-9 p.m. as the Lobo Howl returns to The Pit for the first time since 2008. The Lobo Howl event is free to the public. Gates open at 6pm and seating is general admission for the event.
Lobo fans wishing to purchase season tickets will be able to do so when the gates open at 6pm. Seat locations will be marked and the Lobo Ticket Office will be available to handle season ticket orders from 6:00-8:00pm along with our Customer Service Representatives.
The Basketball teams kick off the action beginning at 7:00pm with Lobo Women's Basketball. New head coach Yvonne Sanchez will introduce the 2011-12 Lobos to open the hour, and the team will scrimmage. The women's squad will also host a shooting contest and other fan friendly-events.
The Lobo men's basketball team will hit the floor at 8 pm with introductions by Coach Alford. The men's team will have a scrimmage and a slam dunk exhibition. Coach Alford will be interviewed earlier in the day by ESPN's Andy Katz for its Midnight Madness special.
Fans will have opportunities to get autographs as well during the evening's festivities.
The University of New Mexico Lobos Flagship station 770 KKOB and sister station 610 The Sports Animal will be broadcasting live from The Pit throughout the day. Members of both Lobo teams and coaching staffs will be guests over the course of the day and evening.
This is your first chance to see the 2011-12 Lobo basketball teams and this event is free to all in attendance. Concessions and the Lobo Den Store will be open as well.
