No. 3 Women's Golf In Command At Dr. Thompson Rainbow Tournament

KANEOHE, Hawai'i - The third-ranked New Mexico women's golf team leads the nine-team Dr. Thompson Rainbow Tournament field by seven strokes heading into Wednesday's final round. The Lobos played 36 holes on Tuesday, shooting 18-over for the day (304-290--594) at the Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course. UNM is followed by San Diego State, who is at 25-over (302-299--601), and Pepperdine, who is at 28-over (306-298--604).

Individually, sophomore Christine Fernandez shot a season-best 68 in the second round of the afternoon to pace the Lobos overall at 1-over (77-68--145). Fernandez is in second place, trailing TCU's Brooke Tull by only one stroke.

Junior Kailin Downs is also in the top 10 with a 74-73--147 (+3), which is tied for fourth.

Freshman Ashley Rollins (76-75) and senior Katrina Leckovic (77-74) are each tied for 13th with a 7-over 151. Junior Shannon Johnson is tied for 26th with a 77-79--156 (+12).

The Dr. Thompson Rainbow Tournament concludes with 18 holes tomorrow.
