New Mexico won its fourth straight and improved to 11-2 at The Pit this season...the Lobos have won 31 straight home games against Mountain West Conference foes...UNLV was the last MWC team to win in Albuquerque on Jan. 6,2002.
Tonight's attendance was a season-high 17,057 and the 11th-largest crowd to see a UNM women's basketball game in The Pit...it was the first time UNM had surpassed the 17,000 mark since March 6, 2004 when 17,472 watched UNM defeat Colorado State...New Mexico is 8-3 all-time when its home crowd is over 17,000.
UNM has now won five of its last six meetings with UNLV, though the Rebels still hold a 18-11 overall lead in the series...New Mexico is 8-4 against UNLV in The Pit...the 13-point victory is the most by the Lobos in the series since a 79-51 home victory in 2001 (28 points)...the last five games had been decided by five points or less.
The Rebels 47 points were a season-low...UNM has held 7 opponents to less than 50 points this season...in their last four games the Lobos are holding opponents to an average of 46.3 points.
New Mexico held a 44-34 advantage on the boards...entering the game UNLV had outrebounded its opponents by an average of 6.5 per game...the Lobos' 19 offensive rebounds were the most since pulling down 20 in the season-opener against Oral Roberts.
Junior point guard Katie Montgomery scored a career-high 21 points, hit a career-high 5 threes and had a career-high 10 3-point attempts.
Sophomore forward Dionne Marsh notched her second double-double of the season and fifth of her career, going for 15 points and 10 rebounds...the 10 boards matched her career-high.
