New Mexico head coach Steve Alford:
"I thought we did a great job tonight out rebounding by 12 when down there we give up 18 offensive rebounds and here they get 4, obviously we did a much better job there and we didn a much better job taking care of the ball. We had 13 turnovers and two of those were in the two minutes of the game when we were up sixteen. The two areas we struggled in would have been the foul line. Getting there 39 times was huge."
"The players and coaches are one and one in this deal with the new programs but it's not even close fan wise. Not even close and I think that is why the intensity is where it was. We had 17- 2 here and it was 6-2 there. We have the absolute best fans and I thought the fans did a tremendous job helping us with this game."
New Mexico State assistant coach John McMullen:
On Playing in The Pit:
"There is nothing like a crowd like this, when you have the fans sitting right on top of you and they are definitely very loud and the fans were as prepared as their team was. They were definitely a factor."
Thoughts on the game:
"I think we had some good play by several people and actually I thought they showed some real strong play and poise in the first half. I think when the second half got away from us a little bit and the crowd turned up the volume it became difficult and it certainly energized their players and they became very good in terms of their shooting and their execution. You have to tip your hats off to them for coming back as strong as New Mexico did after we had beaten them in Las Cruces."
