LUBBOCK, Texas - It took nine innings but the New Mexico softball team beat UC Riverside, 5-3 in game two of the Mutual of Omaha Lady Raider Classic in Lubbock, Texas this afternoon. The Lobos improve to 3-12 overall and 1-1 at the tournament.

Senior Ashley Perkins earned her first win of the season, throwing four innings of relief while giving up no earned runs. Sophomore Caley Peterson, who got the start, went five innings for two earned runs. Between the two, the Lobos sat down five batters.

At the plate, freshman Kayce Danna came up big, going 2-for-3. Senior Ashley Shartzer and sophomore Becky Dover hit .500 (2-for-4) while sophomore Ryanne Hodgins had her second two-hit game of the day, finishing 2-for-5.

New Mexico will return to the field tomorrow at 9 a.m. CT to face Texas A&M Corpus Christi. The Lobos will also take on host Texas Tech at 2 p.m. CT.
