Julie Briody Named Mountain West Conference Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. - Freshman Julie Briody (Lynnville, Ind.) of the New Mexico women's basketball team was selected Mountain West Conference Player of the Week named by the league officials on Monday, afternoon.

Briody dropped in 18 points to lead the Lobos to an opening 77-75 victory over USC. She was 4-8 from the field including 2-4 from behind the arc. Briody went on an 8-2 run of her own with two free throws and back to back three pointers to tie the game at 67 with 3:49 to play. Briody then was fouled on a drive with 22.7 seconds left. The freshman was clutch at the line and nailed both free throw to give UNM the win.

New Mexico returns to action on tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. against Cal State Fullerton at University Arena.
