ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – University of New Mexico women’s basketball senior Caroline Durbin has been named to the 2012-13 Capital One Academic All-District Team. Durbin repeats as an academic all-district performer from District 7. She was also a Capital One Academic All-American last season.
The New Mexico guard is one of forty NCAA Division I women’s basketball players to make the academic all-district team. She and Wyoming’s Chandra Sewell were the only student-athletes from the Mountain West Conference to receive this honor.
The native of Austin, Texas holds a 4.18 grade point average as a Business major with a concentration in Accounting and Finance. She is currently averaging 11.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game while shooting a conference-leading 44.3% from three-point range.
Durbin’s on-the-court accolades include a First Team All-Mountain West selection for the 2011-12 season as well as being named to the Preseason All-Conference Team before the 2012-13 season. The senior is also a mainstay on the Mountain West All-Academic Team and the Mountain West Scholar Athlete list.
Durbin is on pace to become the 17th player in program history to score 1,000 career points. She will also leave in the top three all-time in career made three-point field goals, career three-point shooting percentage, made three-point field goals in a season and three-point shooting percentage for a season.
As an all-district team member, Durbin is now a finalist for this year’s Capital One Academic All-American team.
