Notre Dame, Ind.- The University of New Mexico swimming and diving team held strong for the last day of the Notre Dame Invite. The Lobos finished fifth out of fourteen schools with 794.5 points. Top swimmers for the Lobos in the finals were Nicole Overeem, Lindsay Jeter, Crystal Weiland, Kelsey Leckovic, Robyn Miller and Aimee Dunavant.
In the 1650-yard free, Overeem led the way for UNM with a seventh place finish (17:43.84). Jeter also competed in the 1650 with teammate Overeem. The UNM junior swam to a ninth place finish with a final time of 17:45.97.
Weiland had the top finish for the Lobos in the 200-yard backstroke. She claimed the ninth spot with a time of 2:07.59. Leckovic also claimed ninth in her final event. She swam the 100-yard free in a time of 53.22.
In the 200-yard butterfly, Miller finished fifth with a time of 2:07.92 and Dunavant finished ninth with a time of 2:09.59.
UNM also competed in a final relay event. In the 400-yard freestyle relay, the UNM 'A' team finished sixth with a time of 3:35.17 and the 'B' team finished 14th with a time of 3:41.45.
The UNM swimming and diving team returns to dual meet action on Jan. 10 when they face conference foe Air Force in Colorado Springs, Colo.
