Head coach Steve Alford Quotes
New Mexico vs. Northwood
November 24, 2010
Coach Alford opening statement:
I thought we took a couple baby steps and with the young team, I think we want perfection and those types of things and know we have to be patient.
We knew we were going to have to be patient this year, and we are going to have to do that, especially with Phillip (McDonald) just getting back in. I thought that was a huge lift for us. He didn't shoot the ball particularly well but just having him on the floor, he was aggressive. His presence helped us and I think once Drew (Gordon) gets back in that presence will help.
We took a step in the right direction. Our effort was tremendous, and we shot the ball pretty well, a lot of assists, held them to 37 percent shooting.
So there is plenty of stuff we know we still need to work on, but I liked how our guys responded. We responded in some positive ways tonight and we have a lot of work to do over the next three days to get ready for a really difficult week next week.
