ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- University of New Mexico head football coach Mike Locksley announced today that DB Julian Lewis has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Lobos. Lewis joins an impressive signing class that will have an immediate impact in 2011.
"Julian is a rangy, athletic defensive back with the all the physical tools to impact our program," said Locksley. "He has the ability to play a variety of roles and will help us add depth in the secondary. Julian brings experience and a great bloodline to our program."
Lewis is listed at 6-2, 205 pounds and will be a junior transfer at New Mexico. He spent last season at Citrus College. He played the 2009 season at Abilene Christian University. Lewis enters the collegiate ranks in 2008 at Pima Community College in Tucson, where he was a Freshman All-American.
Lewis is the son of former NFL standout Albert Lewis. He attended Shawnee Mission High School in Shawnee Mission, Kan., growing up.
