New Mexico head coach Steve Alford:

On the game:
"We had a heavy emphasis on ourselves this week and especially, defensively, I thought we made some strides. Second half we had some slippage but we got some key stops when we had to have them, some key charges when we had to have them. I liked what we did on the backboard. I think we improved this week. It was a good win for us and I appreciate the effort our guys gave."

On balanced rebounding:
"We don't have one guy that is going to go out and get 12 or 14 rebounds a night. I thought all of our guys did a good job. We've got to be a team with group rebounds and I thought we did that tonight."

On Tony Danridge's play:
"I think it was one of his better overall games. He defended well, he rebounded well, he passed the ball well. He got 22 points on 10 shots. He is very efficient that way and he led his team. He played a lot of minutes and I thought he handled that well. Hopefully he is starting to get his stride. The last four or five games he has rebounded the way we had to have him rebound."

New Mexico State Head Coach Marvin Menzies:

Opening statement

"I thought Steve (Alford) did a real good job getting his guys ready. I think their upperclassmen did really well. They did a real good job of keeping them alive and recognizing what we were running offensively.

It's one of those games where you wish you could have a few more possessions back where we really executed badly. We've got to get back to the comforts of home and hopefully we can put out a better product next time."

On playing in The Pit?

I love playing here. It's one of the best arenas in the country. I've coached in some of the premier venues in the country and The Pit compares with the best of them. The crowd is great and they do a very good job of supporting their team. I didn't hear anything negative. I thought they were just solid fans."
