Five Lobos to Attend USA Volleyball Tryouts

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. ---Five members of the University of New Mexico volleyball team will be attending the U.S. Women's National Volleyball Team tryouts Feb. 22-24 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.

Freshman Jade Michaelsen, freshman Lisa Meeter, sophomore Anna Lehne, sophomore Rose Morris, and junior Jeanne Fairchild will be among 114 participants will be trying out for the USA National Team. Participants are competing for a spot on the USA roster for the Pan American Cup (June in Mexico) and/or the Pan American Games (July in Brazil), and the USA A2 in Austin, Texas May 21-30. Athletes born in 1988 or 1989 will also be considered for the USA Women's Junior National Team.

"It is a great opportunity for our players to attend the tryout and get to play with, and against some of the best players from all over the country," said Lobo head coach Jeff Nelson. "I am very excited for them and know they will do a great job representing New Mexico Volleyball."

This marks the second year Fairchild and Morris have attended the USA tryouts, bringing experience and advice to their teammates.
