Postgame Quotes

New Mexico Head Coach Mike Locksley

Opening remarks...

"Obviously, very disappointed in how we performed today. Consistently, you know, obviously when you have a chance to go watch the tape I'm sure we'll find some things to build on, but again, the thing that really jumped out without having seen much film, it showed up again on the defensive side of the ball, is not tackling well. We're going to find eleven guys that are going to have the ability to go make the plays on the field. We had guys in position to make plays, and at some point our players are got to be able to go out and do it.

"I thought on the offensive side of the ball we weren't able to either run or throw consistently to kind of give our defense a chance. I thought we missed some open throws early in the game, as we've talked before with our team, you know, somehow, someway, when the opportunities are there for us to make plays we've got to make them and right now, we're not getting that done. We're going to have to continue to evaluate our personnel, continue to evaluate what we're doing, and find ways to get the ball in the hands of guys that can make plays."

"I thought Deon Long played well with the opportunities he had, and he competed well. Obviously, we're still a work in progress, and we need to get back in here on Monday, evaluate the film, and get our guys ready for Sam Houston next week."

Texas Tech Head Coach Tommy Tuberville

Opening remarks...

"It's pretty unusual for an offense to be on like that, but-what a day? The protection we had was great. We challenged our offensive line the last 11 days...our quarterback got hit quite a bit in our first game (against Texas State) and he didn't get hit much today. Having that coverage allows you to sit back in that pocket and make plays. It was a fun day for the offense. I'm proud of Seth (Doege). He'll be the first to tell you he had some guys make some good catches, too. It was all around a very good offensive day.

"Defensively we were kind of hot and cold. We gave up some deep passes, but we played everybody. We tackled much better in the first half, in the second half we didn't tackle as well. It was a good game overall, considering we had two delays.

"We've got work to do. We have another big game next week."
