COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - New Mexico junior Daniel Stovall and UNLV junior Keith Smith were named Mountain West Conference Co-Players of the Week, while San Diego State right hander Justin Masterson was named MWC Pitcher of the Week. This is the third weekly honor for Stovall, while Smith and Masterson garnered their first career weekly accolades.

Stovall, from Midland, Texas, went 15-for-21 (.714) from the plate with a home run, a triple, seven doubles, 16 RBI and 12 runs scored last week, as New Mexico tallied a 4-0 record, including a three-game sweep of Northern Colorado. He started the week off with a 3-for-6 , two RBI, four run scored performance in a 15-12 win over New Mexico State. In game one vs. Northern Colorado, Stovall went 4-for-4, with two doubles, four RBI and two runs scored, as the Lobos defeated the Bears, 9-4. In game two, he was 5-for-6, with a triple, two doubles, a career-high six RBI and three runs scored in the Lobos' 21-1 win. The five hits vs. UNC tied a career-best. Stovall concluded the series with a 3-for-5, four RBI and two runs scored effort. He collected a home run and two doubles as the Lobos defeated the Bears, 19-6. Stovall also collected 31 putouts with no errors from the first base position.

Smith, an Anaheim, Calif., product, hit .357 (5-for-14) with a game-winning grand slam, a triple, a double, five RBI and four runs scored as the Rebels went 3-1 last week, including a 2-1 mark vs. defending national champion and then-8th ranked Texas. In game one, Smith came in to pinch hit with the bases loaded and Texas up 10-9 in the bottom of the seventh and drilled a pinch hit grand slam to give the Rebels a 13-10 lead on the way to the 13-12 win. In game two, he again came through in the clutch, hitting a one out RBI single in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game at nine apiece, as UNLV went on to win the game two batters later, 10-9. In game three of the series, Smith went 2-for-5, with a double, a triple, and two runs scored in the Rebels 9-8 loss.

Masterson, a Beavercreek, Ohio, native, recorded his second win of the year in SDSU's upset win over then-No. 12 Pepperdine last Friday. He struck out 11 batters, while allowing just one earned run on seven hits in 8.0 innings of work. Masterson did not allow more than one base runner in any inning other than the second, as all the hits he gave up were singles.
