COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. - Junior Spencer Levin was named Mountain West Conference Men's Golfer of the Month for October, collecting the award for the second straight time. Levin won the September award after capturing medalist honors at the Topy Cup in Japan with an 11-under 205. For the month of October, Levin tied for first and finished second in two tournament appearances, while carding six consecutive rounds under-par. Each of his three single round scores of 65 during the month tie for the ninth-best round in UNM history.
Levin opened the month with a second-place finish at the William H. Tucker Inviational in Albuquerque, N.M., Oct. 1-2. His three day total of nine-under 207 (71-65-71) on the par 72, Championship Course was two shots off medalist honors and helped the Lobos to a second-place finish. At the Nelson Invitational in Stanford, Calif., Oct. 22-24, Levin tied for the individual crown after setting a school record with a 54-hole total of nine-under 198 (65-65-68) on the par 69, 6,444-yard Stanford Golf Course. Levin was also part of the school record 54-hole team score of 830 that captured the team title by five strokes over fellow MWC member UNLV.
Levin lowered his stroke average by 0.89 in October and currently leads the MWC with a 67.78 stroke average.
