ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- New Mexico women's soccer dropped an overtime match with UNLV, 2-1, Friday at the UNM Soccer Complex. Freshman Alexis Ball scored the Lobos only goal in the 64th minute to highlight the match. UNLV's Brianna Moore scored the game-winner for the Rebels in the 99th minute. UNM falls to 7-4-3 overall with the loss and 1-2-0 in the Mountain West Conference. The Rebels improve to 7-3-5 and 2-0-1 in the conference.
New Mexico outshot UNLV, 18-14, and had multiple scoring opportunities in the match. The Lobos broke the scoreless match in the 64th minute on Ball's goal. Ball has scored six goals in the last seven games and is the first freshman to reach the total since 1999. Junior Hannah Hand was credited with her seventh assist of the season. Hand moves into a tie for third in the all-time single-season records.
The Lobos look to be in control of the match until the 75th minute, when Jessica Destito scored the game-tying goal on an assist Erica Jensen. The match remained tied for the rest of regulation.
Moore scored the game-winner for UNLV in the 99th minute on a close play in front of the net.
Both teams had five corner kicks in the match with UNM goalkeeper Shannon Adragna making three saves.
