Lobos Perform Well At FIS Spring Series

VAIL/BRECKENRIDGE/BEAVER CREEK, Colo. --- Members of the University of New Mexico ski team participated in the FIS Spring Series in Colorado over the weekend. Junior Malin Hemmingsson won the women's slalom race in Beaver Creek on Sunday, April 5 with a time of 1:19.34.

In all, seven Lobo Alpine skiers made the trip, bringing home 13 top-20 finishes over six races. In addition to Hemmingsson's win, Estelle Pecherand-Charmet, Jacqueline Hangl and Stefanie Demetz finished sixth, 10th, and 11th in the April 5 women's slalom race.

Demetz placed third in the women's giant slalom on April 4 with a time of 2:15.24 with Hangl placing 13th.

Petter Brenna recorded three top-6 finishes in three races - sixth in April 3 men's giant slalom, second in April 4 men's giant slalom, and third in April 5 men's slalom. Thomas Schwab finished seventh in the April 4 men's giant slalom and 14th in the April 5 men's slalom.
