New Mexico head coach Steve Alford:

Opening Statement:

"We gained some momentum and confidence with the last road win. What happened in Cancun, I think, brought us together. We had success in San Diego that really lifted everybody. Roman played great. He gets loose ball and takes charges when we need him. He had a breakaway lay-up and passed it back to Dandridge for the dunk. Those types of unselfish plays go a long way in helping your team."

On Faris:

"We dominated the paint I thought. I hope Faris can continue what he did tonight. A lot of it is staying out of foul trouble. We are so much better when Faris is in the game. Tonight we beat them by about 20 rebounds, and Ole Miss is a very good rebounding team."

On defense:

"The press worked and that was our focus coming into the game. We are starting to find our rhythm in how we want to play, and maybe pressing is the way to go. I never thought in my career I would say that, but that's the way we got to go."

On slowing pace down of Ole Miss offense

"The press at least slowed Mississippi down. They didn't get lay-ups or the transition game going. We scored at a high rate in both halves, and that always helps our defense. Our pace was terrific, our intensity was terrific, and hopefully we can build from today's game. Anytime you can beat a BCS team, you have to be pleased. "

Ole Miss head coach Andy Kennedy

Opening statement

"New Mexico played outstanding, they were sharp, they moved the ball. We tried to change our looks, but it's obvious we're not very good in anything defensively. We tried to press a little bit, which I thought was effective, but then we didn't get the ball, and moved back into the zone.

The most discouraging thing is just attention to detail. Their playmakers just did their jobs. We did a very poor job of identifying. They came right out and hit us in the mouth and the thing I'm most embarrassed about is we bring no fight, no toughness. This is the softest group of guys I've ever been around and that's going to change.

On playing in The Pit?

"This is the first time I've ever stepped foot in here, and we were just so poor that I'm not so sure the Pit had a lot to do with it. I know New Mexico played great, made a lot of shots early and knocked us on our heels, and we were never allowed to get into it and as a result, the game wasn't as competitive as we had hoped it to be."
