    So Who Do We Play? ... The Lobos earned the No. 2 seed in the 2009 Conoco Mountain West Conference Baseball Tournament and earned a bye. UNM will play its first game of the tournament on Wednesday, May 20, at 2 p.m. (MDT) against the highest seeded winner from Tuesday's first round games.

    Tournament Seeding ... 1. TCU (15-5) ... 2. New Mexico (15-8) ... 3. BYU (14-8) ... 4. San Diego State (15-9) ... 5. UNLV (9-15) ... 6. Utah (8-16). Air Force finished the season 3-18 in conference play.

    LOBO BASEBALL MWC TOURNAMENT QUICK HITS

    • For the second year in a row, the Lobos will be the No. 2 seed. The only other season New Mexico was the No. 2 seed was the 2004 MWC Tournament. The Lobos ended up one game short of the championship game in 2004.

    • It is only the fourth time in league tournament history that the Lobos have been the No. 1 or No. 2 seed. UNM was the No. 1 seed in 2000.

    • The Lobos made the MWC Tournament Championship game for the first time in 2008.

    • The Lobos have had seven players named to the MWC All-Tournament Team: Mark Okano (2000), Josh Mader (2004), Chris Carlson (2005, 2006), Danny Ray Herrera (2006), Bobby LaFromboise (2007), Mike Brownstein (2008) and Stephen Smith (2008).

    2009 CONOCO MOUNTAIN WEST CONFERENCE BASEBALL TOURNAMENT ... The tournament will run from May 19-23 at Lupton Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas ... All 11 games of the double-elimination tournament will be telecast on The Mountain Sports Network (The Mtn. - Comcast Channel 276 in Albuquerque; DirecTV Channel 616) ... The 2009 All-Mountain West Conference teams and specialty awards will be announced at the tournament banquet on Monday night, May 18, in Fort Worth ... Tournament winner earns the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament ... The NCAA Bracket will be announced at 10:30 a.m. (MDT) on Monday, May 25, on ESPN.

    Ironman Squad ... Senior second baseman Mike Brownstein leads the Lobo Ironman squad in 2009, along with shortstop Daniel Gonzalez. Brownstein and Gonzalez have started all 55 games at the middle infield positions and have rarely been relieved in the late innings of a game. For Brownstein, this is his second season to start every game. The Tucson, Ariz. native is scheduled to start his 115th consecutive game in a Lobo uniform on Wednesday at the 2009 Conoco MWC Tournament.

    Others making the ironman run through the season are senior first/third baseman Kevin Atkinson and redshirt junior center fielder Max Willett. Both have played in all 55 games, with just three missed starts between the two of them. Designated hitter/left fielder Ryan Honeycutt and catcher Rafael Neda are close behind with 54 and 53 games played this season.

    30-Win Season ... The Lobos earned 30 wins for the third time in four seasons on Sunday, April 19 with a 6-5 victory over No. 15 San Diego State in Albuquerque ... The most wins in a season by the Lobos is 42 in 1985 ... UNM's current 37 wins ranks tied for 3rd in program history. It is also the most wins by the Lobos since 1985.
