Junior Kelly Ninemire Named MWC Pitcher of the Week

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - New Mexico junior Kelly Ninemire have been named Mountain West Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week after dominating Utah Valley State last weekend. Ninemire, a transfer from Odessa College, becomes the first Lobo recognized by the league office this season after going 2-0 against the Wolverines.

Ninemire, from Prosper, Texas, was instrumental in New Mexico's 2-1 finish in a three game series against Utah Valley State last week. The right-handed pitcher went 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA in three appearances, pitching 12 2/3 scoreless innings and denying the Wolverines a single walk. She had two complete game shutouts against Utah Valley State, striking out 12 batters and limiting her opponent to four hits. Ninemire has a team-leading 2.82 ERA and a 4-5 overall mark. She has recorded 35 strikeouts and held opponents to a .259 batting average in 57 innings.

This week, Ninemire and the Lobos travel to Tucson, Ariz., to face the defending national champion Arizona Wildcats. UNM faces UA for a three-game series starting Friday at 7 p.m. For additional information about Lobo Athletics visit www.GoLobos.com.
