Lobo Women's Soccer Signs Four to National Letters of Intent

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The University of New Mexico women's soccer team has signed four Southern California student-athletes to National Letters of Intent today. Head coach Kit Vela announced the signing of Brooke Ellison, Elizabeth Nare, Heather Williams and Brianna Webster to the 2010 Lobo women's soccer roster. This highly touted class brings a long list of achievements in both high school soccer and club soccer.

"Every one of these young ladies is an impact player," said Vela. "We are very excited about this class. They are all great players from great club teams. They come from good families and they are going to make an immediate impact on our program."

Four-year starter for head coach Kendall Billingsly... as a junior was named first team All-Sea View League and second team All-CIF... named Defensive MVP in her junior season... served as team captain as a senior and junior... earned Excalibur All-Tournament honors... played club soccer with the Laguna Hills Eclipse of the Premier Coast Soccer League... helped Eclipse win the 2009 PCSL and the 2009 Blues Cup championships... club teammate of fellow incoming freshmen Elizabeth Nare and Brianna Webster.

Coach Vela on Ellison:
Brooke is a tremendous athlete. She plays outside back on either the right or left side. Brooke has only scratched the surface on her ability. Her family is incredibly motivating and she is a great student-athlete.

Coach Vela on Nare:
Liz is probably the most versatile of the four as far as where she can play. She can play in the back or in the midfield. She is a great athlete with a huge hunger for the game. Liz is very passionate about the way she plays the game and is going to be a great contributor right away.

Lettered in soccer, cross country, golf and track... played soccer for head coach John Drew... named first team All-League in all three years of high school competition... named first team All-League in golf in 2009... voted Senior Class President in 2010... earned scholar-athlete honors for having a grade point average over 3.5... played club soccer for Legends FC... sister of current Lobo forward Jennifer Williams.

Coach Vela on Williams:
Heather is a tremendous midfielder, who has great vision. She handles the ball well. She is starting to find herself and become the player we know she can be. She is going to be a very good player for us and will have an immediate impact in the midfield.


Brianna Webster • Huntington Beach, Calif. • Defender • 5-8 • Edison HS A four-year letterwinner for head coach Kerry "Mac" Crooks... named team captain in her senior and junior seasons... earned first team All-League as a senior and junior and second team All-League as a sophomore and freshman... named Defensive Player of the Year in 2008 and 2009... earned Academic Progress Scholarship Award in Biology and History... a member of National Society of High School Scholars... played club soccer for the Laguna Hills Eclipse of the Premier Coast Soccer League... helped lead Eclipse to the 2009 PCSL and the 2009 Blues Cup championships... teammate with fellow incoming freshmen Brooke Ellison and Elizabeth Nare.

Coach Vela on Webster:
"Brianna Webster is a true center back in every sense. She's tall and athletic with good speed and abilities. Her acclimation period is going to be very good because she is hungry and passionate about the game."
