ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- New Mexico (1-2) softball travels to Waco, Texas this weekend to participate in the Getterman Classic hosted by Baylor. New Mexico will face UTSA and Baylor Friday before battling Northwestern State (La.) and Stephen F. Austion Saturday. The Lobos will conclude the Getterman Classic Sunday against Mississippi. New Mexico is scheduled to face the Roadrunners (2-3) at 11 a.m. MT Friday before taking on tournament Baylor (1-2) at 4:30 p.m. MT. UTSA is coming off the Aggie Classic where it beat Tulsa and Preview View A&M. Baylor is coming off a 1-0 victory over No. 1 Florida Sunday. The Bears took one of three games at Florida in the opening weekend.
The Demons of Northwestern State (La.) went 1-3 last weekend at the South Alabama tournament. NSU was scheduled to face Louisiana Tech Tuesday weather permitting. Stephen F. Austin is 0-5 heading into a doubleheader Wednesday with Louisiana-Monroe. New Mexico will play NSU at 9 a.m. MT and SFA at 2:30 p.m. MT Saturday.
Ole Miss is one of the hottest teams in the country. The Rebels are 2-1 on the year after beating No. 6 Louisiana-Lafayette twice last weekend. The Lobos and Ole Miss play at 8 a.m. MT Sunday.
The Lobos are coming off a 1-2 weekend against Syracuse. New Mexico won the season opener, 5-4, but dropped game two and three with the Orange. UNM was led by senior Samantha Hughes who went 3-for-8 with two doubles and a home run. The Lobos are hitting .278 as a team through the first three games. Freshman Danielle Castro (1-1) and senior Analise Rubalcava (0-1) handled the pitching duties during the opening weekend.
