University of New Mexico men's soccer head coach Jeremy Fishbein announced the Lobos' 11-member recruiting class for the upcoming season today. Highlighted by two NSCAA High School All-Americans, a transfer from NCAA Champ Wake Forest and an additional adidas ESP participant, the Lobos' class is loaded with talent.

"We are very excited about this incoming class," stated Fishbein. "We were able to fill our needs on the field and at the same time bring in a group of young men who are committed to being a part of a championship program. All of these student-athletes posses the characteristics we are looking for in Lobo soccer players, integrity, desire and a passion for excellence."

Topping the list of newcomers are midfielder Michael Green and goalkeeper Victor Rodriguez. Both players earned NSCAA High School All-American honors last season. Green, the 2007 Ohio Player of the Year from Strongsville, Ohio, was also a 2007 adidas ESP All-Star. Rodriguez led his Las Cruces High School team to the 2007 New Mexico 5A State Championship and was named the New Mexico 5A Player of the Year last season.

A pair of newcomers are already enrolled at UNM and are training with the team this spring. David Murphy has transferred from Wake Forest after helping the Demon Deacons to the 2007 NCAA title. He was a club teammate of Stephen Brown on the Dallas Texans squad that won three consecutive U.S.Y.S.A. national titles. Lance Rozeboom is a freshman who began his collegiate career in January after graduating early from Xavier High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Rozeboom, a long-time member of the Region IV ODP team, played for the Des Moines Menace in the PDL with Lobos Mike Graczyk and Justin Davis last summer.

UNM will also welcome two international players to Albuquerque in the fall. Anders Selander, a Swedish youth international and former youth teammate of current Lobo Simon Ejdemyr, comes to UNM from Ulrichehamn, Sweden. Mark Geria, an alumni of the prestigious Australian Institute of Sport, joins the Lobos after stints with the Australian U-23 Olympic team player pool.

Five other high school players will join the Lobo program in the fall, including Travis Campbell, Justin Holmes, Seth Neben, Masashi Shibuya and Gary Weisbaum. Campbell is a 5-9 defender and all region player from Phoenix, Ariz. Holmes is the 2007 Northern Indiana Soccer Player of the Year from Elkhart Central High School in Elkhart, Ind. Neben is a three-time all-state performer from Lincoln, Neb. Shibuya is a former club teammate of current Lobo Ryan Farquharson, from Scottsdale, Ariz. He was a two-time adidas ESP participant. Weisbaum is a two-time all-state player from Pikesville High School in Pikesville, Md.

New Mexico posted a 12-5-2 record in 2007, winning their fourth-straight MPSF title and making their sixth appearance in the NCAA Tournament in the last seven years. New Mexico has won over 80% of its games since the start of the 2004 season with a record of 61-11-11. The Lobos own the highest winning percentage in the NCAA during that period.
