LUBBOCK, Texas - After playing a scoreless half of soccer, the Lobos were unable to continue its season opener at Texas Tech due to heavy rain and lightning.
According to Texas Tech head coach Felix Oskam, the game will not be made up since New Mexico does not have an open date later this season.
The first half was completed with no score before heading to the locker rooms. The Lobos waited in an hour-long rain delay before the game was cancelled.
"It was disappointing not to get a full game in," said head coach Kit Vela. "We had just gotten into our rhythm and it was cancelled."
New Mexico now looks to earn its first win of the season as they travel to Norman, Okla., to face the Sooners on Sunday at 1 p.m.
