Black Team Grabs 1-0 Lead In Lobo Baseball Black & Gray World Series

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Junior Jason Fernandez (Albuquerque, N.M.) threw four innings of three-hit ball to lead the Black team to an 8-3 victory over the Gray team Monday afternoon (Oct. 27) in Game One of the annual Lobo baseball Black & Gray World Series at Lobo Field. The best-of-five series continues Tuesday afternoon (Oct. 28) at Lobo Field beginning at 3 p.m.

Junior Jeff Grady (Albuquerque, N.M./Cibola HS) cleared the 407-foot centerfield fence with a two-run blast in the second inning to put the Black team on the board first. The Black team added six runs in the fifth inning fueled by three Gray team errors. Senior Josh Mader (Albuquerque, N.M./Cibola HS) nailed a double in the inning and also scored.

Junior Cooper Eddy (West Des Moines, Iowa) struck out five batters, allowed three hits and gave up two earned runs in four innings of work for the Gray team.
