ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- New Mexico softball will host BYU and Utah this week in four Mountain West Conference games at Lobo Field. The Lobos are 18-19 overall and 7-5 in conference play. UNM recently concluded its final road trip of the year last weekend after going 3-2 against San Diego State and UNLV. The Lobos take on the Cougars Thursday in a doubleheader at 12 p.m., before facing the Utes Friday at 3 p.m. and Saturday at noon.
The Lobos will play their final eight regular-season games at the friendly confines of Lobo Field. UNM is 6-3 at home this season and has won two of its three conference games on home turf. The Lobos remain in the hunt for a conference title and enter the week in third place in the league standings.
Thursday's doubleheader with BYU will conclude the series with the Cougars and could have major implications in the league standings. BYU leads the conference by two games over UNLV and three over UNM. The Lobos dropped a pair of games in Provo, Utah earlier this year and trail in the overall series, 9-22.
UNM finishes the week against Utah and have already won two of the four scheduled games this year after sweeping a doubleheader in Salt Lake City in April. The Utes have lost seven of their last nine games heading into the Colorado State series on Thursday. Utah is 22-22-1 overall and 2-10 in the MWC.
All the games are available via gametracker and all access video through the UNM athletic website www.GoLobos.com. A complete recap and stats will be posted following all games.
