New Mexico Head Coach Don Flanagan
"The start of the game was very important. Getting them (Utah) out of their rhythm for the half court offense is extremely important. They run their offense better than anybody does. They have good personnel. I didn't expect that we could hold (Shona) Thornburn and (Kim) Smith both in single figures. That was just an outstanding job by our defense. I'm not happy with allowing them too many offensive rebounds, we slowed down a little bit in the second half, but still out scored them. So we have to be happy with that. It's a good start to conference play. Every game is extremely important in this conference race."
Utah Head Coach Elaine Elliott
"We just need to put this one behind us and move on. We need to come back tomorrow with the attitude that we're ready to get back to work. They (New Mexico) always play good defense. This just wasn't one of those games our seniors will want to remember."
