NCAA Announces Resumption Of Competition At 9:30 a.m. Today For Track & Field National Championship Meet

    DES MOINES, Iowa--The NCAA has announced that the Division I Outdoor National Track & Field Championship meet at Drake Stadium will resume today at 9:30 a.m. after competition was suspended Thursday night due to severe weather conditions.

    The first event to resume this morning will be the decathlon javelin, at 9:30 a.m. The women's 4x400 meter relay will resume with heat three at 11 a.m.; the remainder of the men's long jump at 2 p.m. (before the heptathlon long jump) and the men's 10,000 meters will be run at 3 p.m.

    The javelin (ninth event of the decathlon) was in the midst of the second round when action was suspended. Action will resume with completion of the javelin and the running of the 1500 meters.

    All other elements of the original Friday schedule remain unaffected.

    David Bishop was able to compete for the Lobos on Thursday, finishing 20th in the men's 1,500-meter run with a time of 3:52.30.
